Moon

In this piece, inspired by Alphonse Mucha, I explore the concept of the moon through the lens of longing. I wanted to capture a sense of quiet yearning, of a figure held in gentle suspension, lost in thought. The flowing, ribbon-like forms encircling her are meant to echo Mucha’s sinuous Art Nouveau lines, while also suggesting the subtle pull of memories and dreams.

By placing the moon as a luminous circle behind her, I tried to create a sense of a halo, tying her to something eternal yet distant, a symbol of unreachable desire. The muted kraft paper ground softens the atmosphere, allowing the white highlights to make the figure feel almost spectral, like a passing thought or a half-remembered feeling.

Ultimately, this drawing is a meditation on longing — how it can be both beautiful and painful, how it wraps around us like a delicate thread, holding us in its quiet embrace.
