Orange study

In this piece, I sought to reimagine the quiet resilience of the snowdrop—a flower often associated with fragility and early spring—by setting it against a bold, burning background. Traditionally depicted in soft whites and greens, these Galanthus are instead rendered in vibrant blues and oranges, suggesting a tension between vulnerability and strength, delicacy and defiance.
The background, a searing orange, evokes a world in flux—climate, emotion, or perhaps inner transformation—against which the snowdrop continues to bloom. The high contrast and glowing outlines borrow from stained glass aesthetics, hinting at the sacredness of natural forms and the spiritual endurance of life in difficult conditions.
By merging botanical accuracy with expressive exaggeration, I aim to blur the line between scientific illustration and emotional narrative. This work is a study not only in form and color, but in persistence—a quiet declaration of beauty in adversity.
