Oil pastel and acrylic ink on toned paper
Painted en plein air
Shells No. 3 was born from a moment of stillness by the sea. Painted en plein air, it reflects the quiet act of sitting with nature—observing, listening, and allowing the light to guide the hand. Each shell carries its own story of tide and time, and in rendering them, I sought to hold onto something fleeting: the shimmer of a highlight, the curve of erosion, the hush of the breeze.
Working with oil pastels and acrylic ink on toned paper, I allowed the natural light to carve form and color, echoing the intimacy of the encounter. This painting is not only a record of objects but a memory of presence—a visual breath, shaped by wind, salt, and silence.
