STUDY NO. 26

It’s just a single piece of hard candy, wrapped and resting on a neutral gray surface—but it holds your eye. I wanted to capture that crinkle of the transparent wrapper, how it slightly twists and reflects light, forming delicate shadows that stretch out softly behind it. The candy itself, with its green and white pinwheel pattern, almost glows against the duller background. There's a simple joy in drawing something so ordinary, but looking at it carefully, you start to see all the little complexities—the reflections, the way the wrapper bunches, the contrast of artificial brightness against a muted world. It’s a quiet study, but it’s full of presence.
